DuroSport Wins Lawsuit Against Medialoper; To Sponsor Podcast
A long-running lawsuit against the website Medialoper for “defamation of products” has been decided in DuroSport’s favor. Citing a pattern of bad reviews, DuroSport lawyer Tripoli Parsectiv cited a “malicious pattern of maliciousness” and asked the Moldovan high court to find against the website, saying that the ongoing series of bad reviews were a “key factor, maybe the key factor” in DuroSport’s inability to break into the U.S. market.
The facts, as cited by Mr. Parsectiv, are these: Back in 2006, Medialoper ran a negative review of the Prism 6000, in 2007, they ran a negative review of the DuroSport’s Second Life player (still the biggest-selling .mp3 player in Second Life), and DuroView Service and in 2009 again insulted our legendary Smell of Books product.
As it turns out, a relatively obscure passage in Moldovan Copyright Law says that any mention whatsoever of a Moldovan company in a review constitutes copyright fraud, and so the Medialopers were found guilty and sentenced to 5-year sentence in Moldovan jail. The ruling judge pointed out that just because Medialoper was never told about the lawsuit and did not have a presence in court didn’t mean that they weren’t very very guilty.
However, because extradition is extremely difficult in the case of Copyright Law, instead of serving the sentence, the Medialoper Commissioner, Gordon Loper, worked out a deal under which DuroSport would sponsor the “incredibly popular” (in the words of Mr. Loper) Medialoper Bebop podcast without having to pay any money.
In this way, the Medialopers would finally have to eat their words about our products and instead have to tell the world how great our products — especially the upcoming DuroCloud service — really are.
